Who Cares?

Recently I have been reading and following a few people on personal transformative journeys. My first thought was who cares what other people are doing when it is intensely personal and often difficult? It seemed to me at the time to be attention seeking and unhealthy. It was also like a train wreck. I could not stop checking in to see what they were doing next.

As a southern girl I’m fascinated by people from other regions of the country. One of these people was actually a couple from the west coast. “That One Couple Who Walks” at first I thought why on earth would I want to follow these two? They are so different from me and my lifestyle is so different. We had one thing in common. She’s working on weight loss. There really was nothing on the surface that was appealing at first. Her spouse is transgender, transitioning male to female. Not something I can relate to at all. I kept watching and initiated conversations with Marylyn. Then as I watched the train wreck of mean responses to this couple who is just trying to improve their situation and live their best life, I saw compassion and empathy. Not from followers but from Marlyn and Maddie. They are kind and loving humans. They are without malice.

Since I am on social media hiatus and digital detox, I have not followed that one couple who walks. I hope they are doing well.

We could all take a lesson from them and don’t let the trolls break your stride.

I think I will go for a walk.

Love & Light, Lori
