It’s Friday

This is Good Friday. For me it’s a day to reflect on faith. To be honest, our Christian faith must seem insane to the average non believer. We believe that God almighty sent his son to one small place on the planet to convince the world he is the best chance we have of salvation from the next most powerful force in the universe, evil. I can see why people are skeptical.

The point was not for Jesus to forcibly make us believe. God certainly has the power to do that. Instead he sent his own son to tell a few and let them choose to believe. When a human chooses to believe something it is near impossible to change their minds. Have you ever tried to convince someone to change their opinion?

God could have sent Jesus with a display of power to the world leaders. He could have sent him with an army of angels and taken the world back by force. God knew that was not the way to make it stick.

Jesus landed in a small rural town. He chose to reveal himself quietly at first to a few outliers and misfits of society. Those few believers spread the gospel and were eventually persecuted and almost all murdered.

Today we are still sharing the story of Jesus and the disciples. God’s plan was and is working. It’s crazy to think that over two thousand years later we are still following the teachings of a divine man who was a mere blip on the timeline of history, but then again Jesus Christ broke time.

Today is the day to reflect on the unfathomable.

Light & Love, Lori
