We had very few classic traditions in my family. We had traditional holiday traditions and those I kept for the most part. There are only two things that I can think of and they aren’t really traditions, but rather expectations.

My mom makes her bed every day. I do not. I know the whole thought around why productive people do make the bed every day. I share a bed with a retired husband and staffy who like to nap, so even if I made the bed it wouldn’t stay that way. I just don’t bother.

The other thing is the idea that children should be seen and not heard. My children are free to express themselves as long as they do so with respect and honesty. Yes my house and dinner table are often a cacophony of voices. Frankly, I like it that way.
