It is completely acceptable to live a life that is different from everyone else’s life. Be nontraditional and unique. If it works for you and you are happy do not apologize for the life you chose.
Your life is your own. It is not for others to decide. It is not disrespectful to your family to be different from them.
A multifaceted family is a blessing.
