Forgiveness is good for your heart — literally. One study from the Journal of Behavioral Medicine found forgiveness to be associated with lower heart rate and blood pressure as well as stress relief. This can bring long-term health benefits for your heart and overall health.
Gandhi was quoted as saying, “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
I am not the one to give advice on forgiveness. It is one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Here is what I can tell you, both Gandhi and medicine is right.
When someone hurts you so bad that it takes years to heal, it takes longer to forgive. Once you do there is a freeing that happens inside you.
You must forgive and move on, however, not a single time are you told to forget. Be strong. Remember, forgive, and don’t give that person power to hurt you again.
