Looking out my window at the sunshine it is difficult to comprehend that much of the world is in chaos. Life is beautiful where I am. Not far is the shore with serene blue waves and sugar white sand. Heaven on earth. If I stop my thoughts there, close my eyes and breathe in the sweet salt air, I can forget that there is any sort of crisis in my country. I am so far removed from it that it is a simple shift in thought.

I realize that to ignore it is selfish.

I want to stay in the illusion that all is as it should be and that people are not fighting a war of rights and wrongs. I want to stay in the sun.

I want peace.
