Things to Do at Home: Hug a Tree

While safe at home go out and sit in the fresh air with no screen in your hand. Just listen to the sounds and breathe the air. If you live in a city take a walk to a park. Find a bit of nature somewhere and immerse yourself in it. Put you feet in the grass and remember that you are a physical being created from the same elements as the dirt you are standing on and in the air in your lungs. You are here because for whatever reason God or the universe wants you here.

Take time to connect with what is real and not man made. Forget the media onslaught of bad news, forget that there is chaos in the world. For a few moments, just be completely present in your own skin.

Remember that you are dust and dust you shall return. You are not just any dust, you are stardust. You are connected to everything. If that is not a reason to go hug a tree I can’t think of a better one.

“The atoms of our bodies are traceable to stars that manufactured them in their cores and exploded these enriched ingredients across our galaxy, billions of years ago. For this reason, we are biologically connected to every other living thing in the world. We are chemically connected to all molecules on Earth. And we are atomically connected to all atoms in the universe. We are not figuratively, but literally stardust.”~Neil deGrasse Tyson
