Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.

My first thought is home is in Florida. I’ve been to England, so for distance that’s the furthest.

I was six. My grandfather kept telling me, “When you get to London you will have tea with the Queen.” I believed him.

The first time we drove by Buckingham Palace my mom told me that was where the Queen lives. I asked why didn’t we stop in. The Queen was waiting for me. I was an expected guest after all. We were to have tea. My mom said, “Not today. the Queen is busy being the queen.”

Every time we went close to the palace I asked to have tea with the Queen. “Yes, today?” The answer was always not today. I’m was very disgruntled that my mother and father would not take me to have tea with the Queen. I’m was certain that the Queen wondered where I was. I knew she wanted to meet me, the little girl from America.

I grew up thinking one day I will meet the Queen. I guess I’ll have to see her in heaven. We can have tea and crumpets.

Light & Love, Lori
